Edvoy is a study abroad platform which helps students with the resources and tools to explore their options for studying abroad.
The purpose of a study abroad platform is to make the process of studying abroad more accessible and easier to navigate for students and help them make informed decisions.
With an average rating of 4.1+ stars on both iOS and Android, it has been downloaded 100,000 times and active users have been steadily growing since launch.
Before beginning the design process, I conducted user research to understand the needs and pain points of students looking to study abroad. Through surveys and user interviews, I found that students are overwhelmed by the amount of information available and struggle to find reliable sources of information. Additionally, students often feel isolated and anxious about studying abroad, and they crave a sense of community and connection.
Furthermore, there were a lot of students who showed up at offline address for counselling. I just had to ask them why they preferred that. I got some interesting answers:
"I was not sure Edvoy is an actual company" (Lack of reach)
"I was not able to trust Edvoy immediately after seeing the website" (Trust factor)
"The social media posts I see in Instagram were not the same visually as the ones I see in the website" (Brand inconsistency)
"Lengthy 'Get Started' flow" (Bad UX)
"Search feature is not working like I want to" (Bad implementation of a feature)
Course and University Search: Comprehensive search function that allows students to find courses and universities based on their preferences.
Student Reviews: Allows students to read and write reviews of universities, courses and counsellors assigned to them, providing valuable insights into the student experience.
Personalised Recommendations: Based on the user's preferences.
Community Features: Allows students to connect with each other, such as forums and chat rooms.
Push, not pull; Rather than expecting students to keep track of their application status, we send critical updates on the applications to them when they need it.
Simple Application Process.
We took this opportunity to simplify the Application process as much as possible to give the student a seamless experience.
We made the Documents section into a global presence. If the student has submitted them and got verified by us, they can apply to a course in a single click.
We commissioned freelance artist Rithika to create custom illustrations of our mascot, Eddie the Owl. We wanted to update our branding and give Eddie a fresh new look for our study abroad platform. Rithika did an amazing job and we are thrilled with the results! The illustrations will be used across our website, social media, and marketing materials. We believe that Eddie's new look will help us better connect with our student audience and communicate the excitement and adventure of studying abroad.
